Sixty-plus years later, the model still works: 11 golf courses (8 public, 3 private), four full recreation centers, two Olympic-size indoor pools, three outdoor resort pools, 27 tennis courts, 26 pickleball courts, 32 lawn bowling rinks, 30 bowling lanes, and over 100 active clubs. The Del Webb Sun Cities Museum, in Webb's original 1960 model home, tells the whole story (open Mon/Wed/Fri 1–4 PM Oct–April). With ItWhip, locals deliver to Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX, ~25 min east) or your Airbnb / Vrbo within the community. Sedans and small SUVs are most popular here: the streets are wide, parking is everywhere, and you don't need clearance for anything inside Sun City. Many visiting families on ItWhip rent cars to take grandparents on day trips to Westgate, Lake Pleasant, or Spring Training games. 2026 events: ongoing pickleball tournaments, monthly art fairs at Bell Recreation Center, weekly farmers markets, the Sun City Pom Squad performances, and Sun Cities Museum tours (Oct–Apr). Driving tip: Bell Road and Grand Avenue (US-60) are the main arteries. Grand cuts diagonally through the West Valley and is faster than the I-17 / Loop 101 combination for many destinations.

Not really. The streets are flat, wide, and parking is plentiful. A sedan or small SUV is plenty unless you're planning hiking trips to Lake Pleasant or the White Tanks.
