Verification is handled by Stripe Identity. ItWhip never sees your DL photo or selfie biometrics — Stripe verifies, returns a pass/fail, and we store only the result.

How we protect your payment information
All payments are processed through Stripe - the same payment platform used by Amazon, Google, and millions of businesses worldwide.
Your card numbers, CVV, and sensitive payment details go directly to Stripe. We never see or store this information on our servers.
We only store a Stripe customer ID to link your payment methods. Card details remain securely with Stripe, PCI-DSS compliant and encrypted.
When booking, we authorize (hold) funds but don't charge until host approval. If declined, the hold is released automatically.
Security deposits are held by Stripe, not us. After your trip with no issues, deposits are released back to your card automatically.
Mandatory per-trip insurance
Every booking includes a vehicle-class-gated protection plan that you sign at checkout. It sits on top of the platform's $1M liability coverage — no opt-out, no surprises mid-trip.

Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what we store and what remains with our secure partners:
Your data is protected. We use encryption at rest and in transit. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified (highest security standard). You can request deletion of your data anytime by contacting support.
Connect your guest and host accounts
Are you also a host on ItWhip? Link your guest and host accounts to seamlessly switch between roles. Use the role switcher in the header to toggle between your guest profile (for booking cars) and your host dashboard (for managing your fleet).
Since one driver's license equals one person, you can only link one host account to your guest profile and vice versa.
Hosts cannot book cars with their host account. To rent a vehicle, hosts must use a linked guest account under the same identity.
How to link: Go to your profile Settings → Account Linking, enter your other account's email, and verify with a code sent to that email. Once linked, you'll see a role switcher appear in the header.
Locked out, late return, accident, or just a question — there's a path for each.

No! You can start booking as a guest. When you verify your identity during booking, we automatically create your account using your driver's license information. No signup forms needed.
